Southwire's revolutionary FlatWire, the Invisible Wire Solution®, has been approved for standard 120VAC electrical wiring applications in the 2008 National Electric Code (NEC). Under article 382 of the NEC, Concealable Non-Metallic Extension (CNE), the innovative surface-mount wiring technology that will present consumers with new opportunities in electrical wiring while greatly advancing safety.

The NEC, through the governing entity of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), establishes requirements for electrical wiring and equipment and oversees electrical installers and inspectors, reviewed the data and proposed CNE change in Article 382 of the Code.

Southwire is currently working with Underwriters Laboratory (UL) on the certification of the CNE and will make future announcements concerning launch dates and availability. We look forward to UL certification and making FlatWire a unique wiring option.
