1A. Unroll the FlatWire and find the black FlatWire QLT (Quick Link Technology) Adapter on both ends. Connect the FlatWire QLT™ Adapters to the printed circuit ledges inside the FlatWire Ready® Connectors. This should be connected with the word "TOP" facing up. |
| 1B. Before mounting connectors on surface, connect desired devices (i.e. VCR, DVD player, subwoofer, etc) and test for system compatibility. |
1C. Disconnect the FlatWire Ready® Connectors from the system and remove connectors from FlatWire. |
| 1D. Determine where your devices will be located and mark those locations. (These are the locations where the FlatWire Ready® Connectors will be installed) |
1E. Draw the path for the FlatWire from one FlatWire Ready® Connector to the next. (Using a laser level is a preferred method for accuracy and time) Note: If there is extra FlatWire, zig-zag on the wall, but do not stack layers. |
| 1F. Mount the first FlatWire Ready® Connector on the marked location. Note: DO NOT mount the second FlatWire Ready® Connector at this time. |
2A. Hold the FlatWire Ready® Spray Adhesive (use of any other spray adhesive will void FlatWire warranty) 6-8 inches from the surface and spray along the path where the FlatWire will be installed. Spray pattern should be at least 3 inches wide. Wait approximately one minute before applying FlatWire. Note: If only paint is to be used in concealment, spray the adhesive directly on the wire instead of spraying the wall to avoid overspray. |
| 2B. Connect QLT adapter to mounted connector #1. Place FlatWire to adhesive path, start from Connector #1 and work to the marked location of Connector #2. Make sure all edges of the wire are secured tightly against the surface. Smooth out the FlatWire with your hand or a blunt non-metallic object. This should remove any wrinkles, folds, or air pockets in the FlatWire. To change directions simply fold the FlatWire at a right angle bend. Be sure to spray adhesive inside the folded joints to adhere FlatWire to itself. After fold, continue along adhesive path to the location of connector #2. |
3A. Mount FlatWire Ready® Connector #2 at the marked location and connect the FlatWire to the connector . Connect all devices to connectors and re-test to make sure they are working properly prior to concealment. |
| 4A. Apply FlatWire Ready® Mesh Tape over the FlatWire ensuring a tight bond. At all bends, extend the mesh beyond the FlatWire by 1". Note: Do not overlap mesh tape. This will add thickness and make concealment more difficult. |
4B. Tape off connectors with painters masking tape. Apply concealing compound over FlatWire Ready® Mesh Tape and allow manufactured recommended dry time. (May require several coats) |
| 4C. Sand the compound to blend with surrounding surface. Once final coat is dry, simply paint or wallpaper to make it disappear. |
4D. Wait 24 Hours for concealment to completely cure. Remove masking tape and attach rear covers on the FlatWire Ready® Connectors. (this covers the connector opening and anchors the FlatWire) Connect system and Enjoy! |
