SPEAKER FLATWIRE INSTALLATION
* Download PDF version
1A. Determine where your devices will be located and mark those locations. (These are the locations where the FlatWire Ready® Connectors or Lighting Devices will be installed) |
| 1B. Draw the path for the FlatWire from one FlatWire Ready® Connector to the next. (Using a laser level is a preferred method for accuracy and time) |
| 1C. Measure the distance from the audio receiver to the speaker. Add 2 to 3 feet to this measurement to account for connections to the audio components |
1E. Connect the appropriate FlatWire Ready® Connectors to the FlatWire. (Shown here is the FlatWire Ready Pin Connectors. For other and more detailed connector instructions click here) |
| 1F. Connect the speakers to the receiver and pretest for system compatibility. (make sure FlatWire is unrolled when testing) |
| 1G. Disconnect the FlatWire from the system and remove connectors from the FlatWire |
| 1H. Feed the FlatWire through the wall anchor leaving enough FlatWire exposed to connect to your audio components. Mount the wall anchor to the wall. Attach the FlatWire Ready® Connector to the FlatWire. Note: DO NOT mount the second Connector at this time. (If using FlatWire Ready® Wall Box, skip this step as the wall box will act as the wall anchor.) |
2A. Hold the FlatWire Ready® Spray Adhesive (use of any other spray adhesive will void FlatWire warranty) 6-8 inches from the surface and spray along the path where the FlatWire will be installed. Spray pattern should be at least 3 inches wide. Wait approximately one minute before applying FlatWire. Note: If only paint is to be used in concealment, spray adhesive directly onto the wire. |
| 2B. Place FlatWire to adhesive path. Start from FlatWire Ready® Connector #1 and work to the marked location of FlatWire Ready® Connector #2. Make sure all edges of the wire are secured tightly against the surface. Smooth out the FlatWire with your hand or a blunt non-metallic object. This should remove any wrinkles, folds, or air pockets in the FlatWire. To change directions simply fold the FlatWire at a right angle bend. Be sure to spray adhesive inside the folded joints to adhere FlatWire to itself. After fold, continue along adhesive path to the location of connector #2. |
3A. At the marked location of FlatWire Ready® Connector #2, mount the wall anchor and attach connectors to FlatWire. Connect all devices to connectors and re-test to make sure they are working properly prior to concealment. (For detailed connector instruction click here) |
| 4A. Apply FlatWire Ready® Mesh Tape over the FlatWire ensuring a tight bond. At all bends, extend the mesh beyond the FlatWire by 1". Note: Do not overlap mesh tape. This will add thickness and make concealment more difficult. |
4B. Apply concealing compound over FlatWire Ready® Mesh Tape and allow manufactured recommended dry time. (May require several coats) |
| 4C. Sand the compound to blend with surrounding surface. Once final coat is dry, simply paint or wallpaper to make it disappear. |
4D. Wait 24 Hours for concealment to completely cure. Connect system and Enjoy! |
