FlatWire Ready® Strain Relief
1. At the end of the FlatWire align the "+" on the Flatwire with the matching the "+" on the FlatWire Ready® Strain Relief. The arrows printed on the Strain Relief should be pointing toward the end of the FlatWire. (Do Not remove the backing yet) |
| 2. Fold the Strain Relief in half and continue to align the "+" on the Flatwire with the matching the "+" on the Strain Relief. Hint: When folded properly the center clear strip of the Strain Relief should match up with the clear portion between copper conductors of the FlatWire. (Do Not remove the backing yet) |
3. Remove adhesive backing from one side of the Strain Relief and press firmly to secure Strain Relief to FlatWire. Make sure you continue to align the Strain Relief on the FlatWire as explained in step 1. |
| 4. Remove adhesive backing from the other side. Fold the Strain Relief around the FlatWire and secure to the other side. |
5. Cut with scissors along BLACK dotted lines. (DO NOT cut the orange dotted lines at this time.) |
| 6. Along the ORANGE dotted lines fold back the clear polymer film exposing the copper conductors |
7. Carefully cut away the polymer film along the ORANGE dotted lines. |
FlatWire Ready® Roller Connectors
Includes:
- FlatWire Ready® Pin Connector
- FlatWire Ready® Banana Jack: Straight
- FlatWire Ready® Banana Jack: Right Angle
Note: The RED FlatWire Ready® Speaker connector goes on the positive conductor (marked "+"); the BLACK FlatWire Ready® Speaker connector goes on the negative conductor (marked "-") |
1. Holding the long outer sleeve with one hand, rotate cap so the opening is aligned with the slot in the gold core |
| 2. With tip of FlatWire Ready® Speaker Connector facing out from center of wire, insert entire copper conductor into aligned slot as far as possible. Helpful Hint: Tips of Speaker Connectors should be facing opposite directions. |
3. Hold plastic sleeve and rotate connector tip until reaching the Strain Relief. The copper conductor should now be entirely under the plastic sleeve. |
| 4. You are now ready to connect to your audio component. |
(If using a FlatWire Ready® Pin Connector, the pin may be clipped with heavy duty wire cutters for exact fit; this is NOT applicable for FlatWire Ready® Banana Jack Connectors) |
FlatWire Ready® Wall Box with 5-Way Binding Box
1. When installing FlatWire be sure to leave at least 8" of exposed FlatWire to make connection to FlatWire Ready® Wall Box. |
| 2. Install FlatWire Ready® Wall Box on marked location and secure firmly to surface. Place Wall Box on the wall with banana jacks either facing the direction the FlatWire is coming from or with the banana jacks facing the opposite direction. Either way the Wall Box is designed to act as the wall anchor. Note: Place Wall Box on top of FlatWire if installing Wall Box with banana jacks facing the direction of FlatWire. |
3. Apply FlatWire Ready® Strain Relief (details on installing this shown beginning of this page) |
| 4. Fold exposed copper conductors down onto the Strain Relief toward the Wall Box. |
5. Place the Stain Relief and the exposed copper conductors onto the gold spring contacts up to the plastic "T" divider in the middle of the Wall Box. |
| 6. Fold excess FlatWire over Strain Relief in Wall Box. Note: Cover of Wall Box will not close if folded wire is over the "T" divider. |
7. Check to make sure exposed copper conductors are in direct contact with gold spring contacts and secure lid on Wall Box with provided screws. |
| (In the case where the positive "+" wire does not align with the RED Knurled Knob, the RED and BLACK Knurled Knob can be unscrewed and swapped) |
